Electricity Sector Social Dialogue Partners Sign Joint Position on Corporate Social Responsibility

On 22 June, the European social dialogue partners in the electricity sector – EURELECTRIC for the employers and the two trade union umbrella groups EMCEF and EPSU – signed up to a joint position providing recommendations for electricity companies in drawing up and reporting on Corporate Social Responsibility policies.

“Employment in the electricity industry shows an increasing trend towards older workers. This demographic development has the potential to significantly impact the electricity Industry in Europe from a labour and skills perspective,” said Emanuela Preiti, Chair of the EURELECTRIC Working Group on Social Affairs and Human Resources, as she opened a conference on “Demographic Change in the Electricity Industry” hosted in Brussels on 14 November by the electricity sector social partners. Speakers on all sides of the social dialogue addressed key issues of an ageing workforce in the electricity industry and applauded a Toolkit / Best Practices Guide to action in this field.
